A downloadable game for Windows

What is Magus Arcana?

Magus Arcana is a procedural dungeon-crawler, inspired by games like The Binding of Isaac and Enter the Gungeon. You play as a wizard who is delving into ancient dungeons to find relics of the past to add to his collection.

It was made by me and two fellow students as part of our System Design exam in our second year of Game Design studies. My main focus was on the dungeon generation itself, while the others worked on the attack system and the spell combination system.

The project wouldn't be done in time if not for the efforts of https://twitter.com/sharafaldin_, who persevered side-by-side with me as the deadline approached.

How much content is there?

There are three floors with different enemies and items to find. The goal of the game is to acquire all the items in the game, through exploring, killing bosses and combining items in the inventory.

Is it a finished game?

It's more a 'rough prototype', put together over many sleepless nights before our deadline. As a result, the game may be unstable or bugged at times. If you experience a bug that's game-breaking, feel free to alert me.

That being said, it's something we're happy we were able to put together, and hope others enjoy playing it :)

Awesome! Had lots of fun with this game!

I also do game development with unity (nothing to your guys skill level) and I noticed a bug while playing with lines showing up and its usually because the lines inbetween the tiles are off by a tiny bit, you can easily fix it by looking up on youtube how to get rid of line in unity and look at a couple videos

We'll look into the lines, thank you :)

Really fun game, I look forward to seeing how it changes and evolves going forward, but I wish it was a little clearer what each thing did

Thanks for playing! We hope to iterate on it to make that clearer :)

Really cool combining tomes. Definitely needs several playthroughs to find all the goodies. Nice work! :)

The team appreciates the love 😌 We weren't expecting it to get any coverage, but it's making us want to polish it up  and improve the game more!

You have the core of a great game right here! I'll admit, I was pretty tough on it, but that's really just because of the potential I see. I hope you find the feedback useful!

Thanks for taking the time to play our little game! 😄 We appreciate the feedback, we've noted down a few things we'd like to improve, so if we ever get the time we'll iterate on it and post an even better version.
